Lithuanian State Forest Enterprise was established in 2018 and consists of a central administration and 26 regional units. The priority objective of the Lithuanian State Forest Enterprise is to ensure that state forests are managed and protected in accordance with the principles of sustainable forest management, combining the economic, ecological, and social functions of forests. We manage half of Lithuania’s forests in trust – around 1,1 million hectares – of which 300,000 hectares are reserves and other protected forests. These are the property of all Lithuanian citizens. Lithuania’s total forest cover is 33,8% of the country’s total area. The Ministry of the Environment of the Republic of Lithuania exercises the rights of the owner of the Lithuanian State Forest Enterprise.
