Österreichische Bundesforste (ÖBf) maintains ten percent of Austria’s natural landscape. It cares for, protects and manages the natural resources of the Republic of Austria – lakes, forest and mountains – based on the principle of sustainability. Only as much is taken from the natural environment as can grow back again. The company translates this principle into practice by placing equal value on the protection of the environment, the needs of society and commercial success.
Alongside the core business of forestry/timber, the biggest and most important business segment is real estate. Demand is also high the business segment of services, which range from forestry consultancy through the management of private forests to ecosystem planning for customers throughout Austria. Renewable energies are the fourth pillar, where Bundesforste focuses on small-scale hydropower, wind power and photovoltaic projects, thereby making an active contribution to the energy turnaround.
