EUSTAFOR welcomes new associate

EUSTAFOR is delighted to announce our new associate Ann-Mari Kuparinen from Metsähallitus, Finnish State Forests. She joined our team in the beginning of April and will work in Forestry House until February 2025.

Ann-Mari graduated with MSc of Agriculture & Forestry from Joensuu University. Before that she obtained a BSc of Forestry in Rovaniemi Polytechnic. Ann-Mari has worked for Metsähallitus, the Finnish State Forest Organization, for the last 14 years, during which she has gained experience in several positions from forestry planning to timber logistics and land-use management. For the last 5 years Ann-Mari has worked as an Environmental Specialist in which role she e.g. carried out internal audits and managed PEFC certification compatibility within Metsähallitus Forestry Ltd. Before Metsähallitus, Ann-Mari worked briefly for Forest Management Association (Metsänhoitoyhdistys) as a Forestry Adviser, and for two years for Stora Enso as a Specialist of Timber Harvest Operations.

During her time as an associate Ann-Mari wishes to learn more about the EU policy making:

“This is a very exciting year to be in Brussels and not the least because of the upcoming elections. As my primary goal, I want to gain better understanding of the way forests are regarded in the EU framework for bioeconomy and biodiversity challenges. I am eager to bring my knowledge of Finnish forestry to benefit the EUSTAFOR family. I am looking forward to working with you all!”
