Rich discussions on the EU Forest Strategy

On 24 January 2023, EUSTAFOR, CEPF and COPA-COGECA organized a joint conference in Brussels called “EU Forest Strategy for 2030: where we are and where to go next”. The goal of this event was to do a state of play on the EU Forest Strategy, how it will be implemented and how to move forward in the right way.

Around 100 people attended the event at the Bavarian Permanent Representation. The speakers invited represented the 3 European bodies (European Commission, the Swedish Presidency, the European Parliament), the State Forest Organizations (Member States), private owners representatives, NGO and researchers.

The conference focused on the following questions:

  • What should be the aim of actions taken next on sustainable forest management and closer-to-nature forest management practices?
  • What is the future of EU Forest Governance?
  • What role will the forest sector play in achieving the EU’s environmental and climate objectives and what impacts may be seen in the sector as a result?
