EUSTAFOR Contributes to the Reopening of Parc de la Jeunesse in Schaerbeek

On 30 May, the Municipality of Schaerbeek officially inaugurated the newly renovated Parc de la Jeunesse, reopening an important green space for local residents, families, and young people after an extensive redevelopment project. The renewed park now offers enhanced recreational and nature-based facilities, including new playgrounds, a skate track, outdoor activity areas, and revitalised green spaces designed to promote wellbeing and outdoor recreation.

As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, EUSTAFOR contributed to the project through the co-financing of public wooden tables installed throughout the park. The initiative reflects EUSTAFOR’s commitment to supporting accessible and welcoming green spaces that bring people closer to nature while showcasing the social value of sustainably managed forests and wood-based products.

The inauguration gathered local authorities, community organisations, families, and residents for an afternoon of activities and celebrations. Through this contribution, EUSTAFOR highlighted how public forest management organisations can support communities beyond the forest landscape itself, helping create attractive public spaces that encourage social interaction, recreation, and stronger connections with nature.

The project forms part of EUSTAFOR’s wider programme marking 20 years of representing Europe’s State Forest Management Organisations and promoting the role of sustainable forest management in delivering environmental, economic, and societal benefits across Europe.
