SUPERB Project Concludes After Four Years

We are pleased to share an update on the conclusion of the SUPERB project (Systemic solutions for upscaling of urgent ecosystem restoration for forest-related biodiversity and ecosystem services), which has officially concluded after four years of collaboration across Europe.

EUSTAFOR was proud to contribute to SUPERB as a member of the Stakeholder Advisory Board, providing input, critical reflection, and sector perspectives throughout the project. SUPERB brought together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders to develop practical, science-based solutions for restoring forest ecosystems and strengthening biodiversity.

Over its lifetime, the project delivered:

  • Scientific knowledge on forest restoration

  • Policy and practice recommendations to support decision-making

  • Tools for forestry and restoration professionals

All outputs are openly accessible via the Forest Knowledge Gateway, a user-friendly platform that brings together forestry-related knowledge and resources for practitioners, policymakers, and researchers.

A defining feature of SUPERB was its strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement, including collaboration in 12 large-scale demonstration areas, illustrating how inclusive approaches can support forest restoration.

We thank the SUPERB consortium for the opportunity to be part of this work and look forward to the continued uptake and impact of the project’s results beyond its formal end.
