EUSTAFOR speaks at the OECD Expert Workshop in Latvia

Executive Director, Piotr Borkowski, presented at the OECD-Latvia Workshop – Forestry for the Future: Uniting Stakeholders for Climate Action and Sustainable Growth, held on 26-28 May 2025 in Riga, Latvia.

LVM regional office in Jelgava was the venue for the 1st day of the conference, where the participants could visit the modern and energy-efficient wood-built building as an excellent illustration of how forests can contribute to the long-term carbon storage in harvested wood construction products. LVM was also presented as an extremely well-managed and innovative state forest management organisation that promotes innovative solutions and employees’ well-being in their offices.

The workshop brought a unique combination of perspectives from various experts on forestry, including policymakers, forest-related organisations, producer associations, international organisations and academia. The workshop was organised to feed into the upcoming OECD work in the context of climate mitigation, aiming to pave the way for the design of innovative forest policies and to ensure forest integrity without compromising economic growth.

EUSTAFOR was invited to speak in a panel discussion in Session 3: Forestry policies and management. The presentation is available under this link.

Ahead of the workshop, Piotr Borkowski visited LVM Headquarters in Riga and held a short meeting with Mr Pēters Putniṇš, LVM CEO.
