Consultation round for FTP SIRA 2040 now open

As you might be aware, the Forest-based Sector Technology Platform (FTP) is in the process of updating its core strategic document, the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SIRA), with the updated version, the FTP SIRA 2040, scheduled for publication in 2027. As EUSTAFOR is one of the founding members, we have always been closely involved with FTPs activities.

To ensure these documents reflect today’s priorities and challenges across the forest-based sector, FTP is gathering input from a wide range of stakeholders. The SIRA plays an important role in mobilising extra resources and defining the trans-national R&I collaboration that FTP represents. It also helps researchers, policymakers, industry and forest owners to better understand each other.
The new SIRA edition will be organised around 5 Missions, 14 Objectives, and 50 Actions.

As FTPs advocacy activities around forest research funding can directly benefit EUSTAFOR members, we encourage you to take some time to study the document. The deadline to complete this questionnaire is 30 June 2026.

To better understand the context of this SIRA update, please refer to this presentation.
For a better overview of the document, the draft SIRA 2040 is available here.
