EUSTAFOR provides its views and suggestions on enhancing the draft format for national restoration plans
In context of the upcoming implementation of the EU Nature Restoration Law, the Commission and the Committee on Nature Restoration (Member States representatives) have been jointly working on the draft uniform template for National restoration plans (NRPs)- (This was announced in Art 15 of the regulation: The Commission shall, by means of implementing acts, establish a uniform format for the national restoration plan).
On 10 January, the Commission has opened a public consultation on the draft uniform format that was running until 7 February.
In its input, EUSTAFOR focused on the following aspects:
- Using other data sources
- Public participation (Art.15(3)(w))
- General co-benefits and impacts (Art.15(3)(r) and (s))
- Identification of existing agricultural and forestry practices, including CAP interventions, that contribute to the restoration objectives (Art.14(10) and 15(5))
- Fields relating to the monitoring, the effectiveness assessment and the revision of measures (Section 5)
- Effectiveness of restoration measures
- Contextual information about habitat types (Art.4(1), (4) and (9))
- Closing knowledge gaps (Art.4(9))
- Planting three billion additional trees (Art.13)
