EIB and EFI open call for forest bioeconomy projects

Building on years of collaboration, the Forest Bioeconomy Investment Accelerator (FBIA) is a joint initiative of the European Investment Bank Group (EIBG), the European Forest Institute (EFI) and the Bioregions Facility.

The event, which will take place on 25 November 2026, creates a focused forum where project developers meet directly with investment experts to discuss investment readiness, financing pathways and ways to make forest bioeconomy projects more bankable.

Approximately 10 projects will be selected to pitch to EIB Group and other investment and technical experts. They will receive feedback to their proposal and gain insights in EIB financial instruments. A limited number of projects may be considered for follow-up tailored advisory support depending on maturity, financial readiness, and alignment with EIB advisory instruments. This support will be offered only to a small subset of cases.

Among the eligible applicants are developers of sustainable forestry, forest bioeconomy, agroforestry, restoration or nature-based solution projects. Public authorities are also in the scope.

The deadline for applications is 12 June 2026. Ahead of this deadline a Q&A webinar will take place on 20 May at 10.00 CEST to provide more insight.
