CANCELLED – Round Table Meeting: Social perception of forests and image of foresters

This event has been cancelled due to the very dynamic development of the Corona virus (COVID-19) in Europe. More than half of the registered guests come from different regions of Europe and with a view to the regulations of the European Parliament regarding the Corona virus, it seems disproportionate to us to maintain the planned lunch meeting despite the risks for everyone involved.

The decision to cancel the meeting at such a short notice was not easy for us and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The European State Forest Association (EUSTAFOR), the European Federation of Municipal Forest Owners (FECOF) and the Union of European Foresters (UEF) are co-organising a lunch-time Round Table Meeting to debate society´s perception of forests, forestry and foresters. The meeting takes place on 10 March 2020 (10:30 – 14:00) at the European Forestry House, Rue du Luxembourg 66, 1000 Brussels.

While the forest policy discussions on European level are almost exclusively focused on issues related to climate change, the bioeconomy and the protection of forests and forest biodiversity, the way sustainable forest management is perceived by society seems to be of increasing importance.

Christine Farcy from University of Louvain (Begium), Chair of the European Forestry Commission of FAO and Vice-Chair of the Board of the European Forest Institute, who has dealt with the perceptions, uses and the importance of forests, will open the discussion with a keynote presentation.

Following the informal discussions, a networking lunch will be offered.

Please register by 28 February 2019 to info@european-foresters.org.

As the number of seats in the meeting room is limited, participants will receive a confirmation of their participation prior to the event.
