XV World Forestry Congress

The Republic of Korea is pleased to announce that the XV World Forestry Congress will be held from 2 to 6 May 2022 in Seoul. The new dates will enable the Congress to build on the momentum following the outcomes of the major global events scheduled before the Congress, including the Rio Conventions’ Conferences of Parties (UNFCCC COP26, CBD COP15, and UNCCD COP15), the IUCN World Conservation Congress, and the UN Food Systems Summit.

According to the Secretary-General of the XV WFC, Dr Eunsik Park: “The year 2022 is a critical year in that the international community’s concerted efforts and actions are required now more than ever to achieve a carbon neutral world and combat the climate crisis. The Republic of the Korea will keep up its efforts to help advance international cooperation in the forest sector. Organizing and hosting a successful World Forestry Congress next year is an important part of the efforts. We expect that the Congress will also be an important milestone in paving the way for building back better after the pandemic.”

In light of the new Congress dates, the submission platform for papers, posters will be reopened from 28 April to 30 June 2021. The videos can be submitted until 3 September 2021.

In addition, those interested can still submit a side event proposal for the Congress. The submission platform will be reopened from 28 April to 30 July 2021.

The WFC Secretariat looks forward to continuing Congress preparations with the contributions of the global forest community, to ensure a successful World Forestry Congress in 2022!
