UNECE International Day of Forests Event

On the International Day of Forests, UNECE will host a two-part event to celebrate this day. The two events are:

1. “Forest Talk: Innovation 4 Climate” (10:00 – 11:30, Auditorium (H.200, ground floor), Building H, Palais des Nations and online – click here to connect).    Explore groundbreaking research on innovative uses of wood components from experts across various industries.
2. “Glacial Threads: From Forests to Future Textiles” (12:00 – 13:00, “Rebirth” sculpture, grounds of the Palais des Nations). Experience a symbolic ceremony as we a glacier fleece, crafted from wood-based fibers,  is revealed and laid onto Michelangelo Pistoletto’s renowned sculpture, “Rebirth.” This segment will be held outdoors. Participants are advised to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.

Following the main event, a reception will be hosted by the Permanent Mission of Italy.
