Snapshot on Boreal forests’ contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals

The 2021 UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development will uncover concrete policy actions to accelerate SDG progress and spur the efforts to build back better. The Regional Forum will offer seven days of SDG action with 12 virtual peer learning round tables taking place from 10-16 March 2021, followed by the Forum’s hybrid plenary sessions on 17-18 March 2021. The 2021 Regional Forum will also give space to a range of discussions in 20+ side events and various pre-meetings.

A roundtable will take place on 15 March 2021 (15.00 – 17.00 CET) to discuss the Boreal forests’ contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals. The Boreal region is a vast expanse of forests, mires and lakes circling the northern hemisphere. Boreal forests play an important role in mitigating climate change, and at the same time, they are strongly affected by it. This peer learning session will highlight how boreal forests contribute to the 2030 Agenda and what measures are taken by countries to ensure their sustainable management.

The agenda of the session is available here.

Registrations are open until 5 March 2021 via this link.
