EU Green Week 2020

Attracting attention around the globe, EU Green Week is the biggest annual event on the European environment policy calendar. It’s a forum for stakeholder debate at the European, national and local levels, generating input that feeds back into policy-making and implementation.

EU Green Week 2020 will focus on nature and biodiversity. With a growing number of reports placing the global ecological crisis on the same level as climate change, the world needs a new deal for nature. That deal should be delivered at COP 15, the 15th meeting of the Convention on Biological Diversity to be held in China in October 2020, and EU Green Week should mark a milestone on the way. 2020 will be also a critical year for EU biodiversity and nature policy: at the end of the year, the Commission is expected to publish an evaluation of the current EU biodiversity strategy.

Gathering stakeholders from all around Europe, EU Green Week 2020 will debate the successes and gaps in EU biodiversity policy, and demonstrate the importance of biodiversity for other policy areas. It will discuss the future of EU biodiversity policy and the shape of Europe’s input to the global deal, while reaching out to citizens to build support for strong political action at the highest level.

All information relating to EU Green Week 2020, including confirmed dates, the launch of the applications to organise an EU Green Week partner event, and registrations for the Brussels conference will appear on this website.
